My grandparents had flown out from the Midwest to visit us in California, and unfortunately my grandmother had a heart attack while they were visiting. My father was attempting to give her CPR and my mom called 911. I was young at the time and was sent out front to wave down the first responders who were coming to help us. Paramedics, police officers, and firefighters responded to the call. I still remember how they all worked together to try to help my grandmother on that day. Although she didn’t survive, their teamwork and heroic efforts are forever etched in my memory.
