Tragedies like this in Tennessee are rare, but unfortunately we are familiar with them here in Kentucky, as we still remember what happened in Marshall County. In this rare case, the argument of armed school resource officers was vindicated. Lives were saved because this officer was there and was armed. Because of him and the policy allowing him to be there, we are not seeing a national news story reporting the death of multiple students. Hero!
Kentucky passed legislation a couple years ago allowing schools to have school resource officers. There were several people who actually argued against arming them. As a parent, I’m glad to know our state took a step to protect my kids from unpredictable tragedy.
