10 years ago, I had a patient whom I didn’t hear from. I contacted his home, and there was no answer. It was unusual as this patient never missed an appointment. I contacted the police and come to find out, the patient had a medical emergency in his home and was on the floor for two days before help arrived. Luckily, he was able to be taken to the hospital and get treated. Fast forward a decade, this patient comes in and says to me "I remember you. You called the cops on me!". I was in shock, but it turned out, it was the patient who was on the floor in his home. He told me if it wasn't for my persistence, he would've died as he was slowly bleeding internally. He thanked me and it made me feel good, and all that I go through on a daily basis, makes it worth it.
